Joe Achilles goes for a ride with ALPINA CEO

ALPINAs have a special place in our hearts. The German-based manufacturer has been taking BMWs and cranking them up to eleven for decades now and make of the coolest, most exclusive cars in the world. It’s hard not to love an ALPINA. In fact, some BMW fans like them more than BMW M cars, despite the two being very different. The current CEO Andreas Bovensiepen is the son of ALPINA founder Burkard Bovensiepen and loves his cars. He’s also very much an enthusiast and loves to drive fast. As evident in this latest video from Joe Achilles who gets to ride shotgun with Andreas in a brand-new ALPINA B7.

The video is over an hour long, so only watch it if you have quite a bit of time. However, if you have the time, it’s worth a watch. Typically, when you hear a CEO or owner of a car company talk about their cars, you’re going to hear a fancy sales pitch and brand mottoes. However, the beauty of ALPINA is its size and exclusivity, so its higher-ups don’t have to sell you during every interview. They can show their passion for the brand. Andreas’ passion for his brand is evident, as he grins from the start of the interview.

But even more than that, the moment they get the chance, Andreas starts to hoon the big B7. Hoon is actually a bit of an understatement, as he seems to hit speeds that seem frankly dangerous on the sorts of roads they’re on. Though, he’s probably driven these roads at speeds like this for many years, so he knows what he’s doing. It’s also shocking just how brutally fast the B7 is. It doesn’t accelerate so much as it teleports down the road. It’s violently fast but remarkably civilized. It also seems to handle better than you might imagine.

Then they take it out on the German Autobahn, with Andreas still at the wheel. On an open and unrestricted stretch of Autobahn, Andreas hits over 200 mph with what seems like ease. Joe Achilles looks utterly shocked at the speed and claims that it’s the fastest he’s ever been in a car. Imagine being rocketed along at 200 mph with the head of a major German manufacturer at the helm?

It’s a good video and one worth watching as it shows off the passion ALPINA that’s shown to their cars. If the current CEO is excited about hooning his brand’s cars around some tight roads and then hitting 200 mph on the highway, that’s the sort of brand enthusiasts can get behind.
