Is now the time to buy an E24 BMW M6?April 11, 2017
Car collectors are always looking for that next great buy, the car that’s going to offer them a year or two of fun and then appreciate in value, netting them a profit. That’s the best sort of car to buy, as typically cars are terrible investments. So collectors are always on the lookout for that next great car, the one that’s going to appreciate higher than its original MSRP. It can be difficult to gauge the market, sometimes, but if you do your homework and pay attention, you can find little gems that will not only be fun to own but be wise investments as well. Could that next car be the E24-generation BMW M6?
The first-gen M6 is still a very cool car. Its sharknose looks are iconic, its inline-six engine is superb and its handling is of BMW’s golden years. The best part about the E24 M6, though, is that it’s quite a bit cheaper than its original price tag and it could be looking to appreciate in the coming years.
A new video from ChrisWorldTV goes into detail on this and how the E24 M6 could soon appreciate, evidenced by its fellow M cars of the time period doing the same.
During the mid-to-late ’80s, BMW was developing M cars for the first time. Each M car of its generation was the first. So the E30 M3 , E28 M5 and E24 M6 were all the first of their name. The former two cars, the E30 M3 and E28 M5, have already jumped up ahead of their original MSRP and show a nice profit for each. The E30 M3 in particular, though, is worth a helluva lot more than it originally costed. With prices soaring into frankly ridiculous prices.
So will it be the E24 M6’s turn soon? It certainly seems that way, as the demand for ’80s German cars seems to be rising. Porsche 928s seem to be getting expensive, as to Audi Sport Quattros and basically every other BMW from the era. So it would stand to reason that it’s only a matter of time before the E24 BMW M6 rises as well. Especially if this article and the video get enthusiasts shopping for them.
