Carlex Design’s Steampunk MINI Countryman Is Something Else
June 7, 2017The guys from Carlex Design no longer need an introduction. Maybe they would’ve needed one a couple of years back but with projects such as the Steampunk MINI Countryman featured in the video below, they are now an established brand. Known for their custom interiors, catering to the most eccentric tastes out there, the Poles are true masters of their trade.
The Countryman itself might not be the most beautiful car ever made, but the current model made things better than the initial car launched by MINI some 8 years ago. And yet, that changed once this particular MINI reached the HQ of Carlex Design. Wanting to put together something really special to use on their business card, Carlex Design has decided to give the Steampunk a makeover.
Almost everything inside has been modified, covered or completely redone. The steering wheel now features a skeleton watch motif which is replicated on the seats and the backseat armrest as well. Keeping true to the overall theme, the air vent covers, steering wheel and all the gauges inside the car are covered in a thin copper foil. As a matter of fact, all copper elements inside and outside the car (such as the roof, for example) had to be hand-beaten into shape.
The interior is now covered with brown leather and Alcantara, while the backs of the rear seats have been transformed using lacquered wood. The trunk is now all dressed up in fur and a powerful sound system was installed as well. As for the exterior, the car is wrapped in black matte foil, contrasting with the copper look of the BBS wheels and the roof. Considering the extensive changes done to the car, it’s no wonder it took the guys 9 months to complete this project, but the end result was surely worth it as this MINI is definitely something else.
